“Daddy’s Little Girl”

She’s a she…He’s a he.

Student…Teacher

A child…A Man

Short…Tall

Light…Dark

With all the opposite things you see

There’s one thing in common…it’s

Love

“Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.” {Proverbs 17:6 KJV}

“And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.” {Ephesians 6:4 NKJV}

My G-baby’s daddy is a Million-degree Black Belt in the art of TaeKwonDo. Well, maybe not 1,000,000-degree…lol…but he is a something-degree Black Belt (I should know this!! 🙂 )

What is Taekwondo?

Tae” means “foot” or “to strike with the feet”. “Kwon” means “hand”, or “to strike with the hand”. “Do” means discipline, art, or way. Hence TaeKwonDo (foot-hand-way) literally means “Art of the feet and hands.”

My son-in-law will be the first to tell you that this martial art is not meant to teach a person how to fight, but rather how to discipline themselves…how to control their feet and hands. Practicing TaeKwonDo, and doing it correctly, takes a lot of discipline. I know because I was his student for a while (That’s right, if a soft piece of pine wood ever attacks me, I have the skills to break it in half!!! ).

It is through wise instruction that the students learn the techniques. By diligent repetition, the students learn how to discipline their feet and hands and when called upon, the feet and hands can protect them from harm.

Our walk with Christ requires the same kind of discipline. Ephesians, chapter 6 is a good example of how we need to prepare ourselves for defense:

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,” {Ephesians 6:10-17 ESV}

GOD, through HIS Word, is our instructor. We must be the diligent student that studies and practices the techniques necessary to use GOD’s armor.

Preparing for battle…praying for peace.

Gaining strength though our fellowship.

“That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.” {1 John 1:3 KJV}

    1. Thank You K, for your kind words. GOD is good to bless us, and when I have such wonderful examples to show HIS blessings (G-baby and son-in-law) it’s easy to write. Have a great day!!! 🙂
